Is this meeting going to be recorded?

32:48
This webinar is being recorded, and in the coming days, you will receive a link to the recording as well as resources shared.

37:12
how many of the 70 who signed up, were landlords/management co.s etc

40:36
How many of the individuals who agreed to be housing partners actually followed through and rented to refugees? How many have continued to do so over time?

42:31
Would you be able to share the content of your presentation so we don't have to reinvent the wheel?

43:21
did you all speak with landlords about the up keep of their properities

45:11
Question: Can you offer a successful sample statement that can be given to landlords who refuse to rent to refugee's on the basis of they will not violate the fair housing act by renting to our clients who do not meet their leasing criteria - IE - no social security number and will not make 2.5 income to rent at time of signing lease? Thank you -

50:54
is the top slide available as a pdf? (on session structure content slide)

54:38
Did you ask invitees to bring up questions along with the invite/before the session so you'd have an idea of what concerns/questions people had?

01:01:26
Did you use or are you aware of any incentive programs? IE: fund to pay for damages, if any and/or stipend for "successful" rental relationship.

01:04:34
How was the media emplemented?

01:05:08
How can we apply for new VISTAs? In the past we were told if we didn't have VISTAs then it would be impossible to get one.

01:05:18
Were any of the new 50 landlords "corporate landlords"? We are experiencing a massive increase of buyouts from national property owners.

01:05:53
ooo thank you for the resource packet!

01:06:00
No refugee resettlement agency is active in our city. How can we use the information presented here?

01:07:01
Persistent problem of landlords requiring guarantees or co-signers on leases for refugees; unemployed and with no credit history. Any creative solutions?

01:07:23
@Daniel, around here we have had churches or community orgs be the co-signers.

01:07:30
Is Pittsburgh currently experiencing affordable housing shortages? How do you compete with U.S. born citizens who also need affordable housing?

01:07:39
Ditto the question about cosigners and guarantors

01:08:52
Anne Sheid - your question is very timely.

01:13:16
It’s also (I think) good to frame this as a fight for more affordable housing, across the board, for everybody. It’s not just a struggle for refugees, it’s a struggle for the rights of workers

01:13:24
I think the conversation should be less about competition and more about recognizing that affordable housing is essential to address for so many populations. It adds to the toolbox to advocate for more programs to protect affordable housing.

01:13:44

01:13:54
Thank you. Very informative!

01:14:41
Market rate is often not affordable for refugees

01:14:54
Amazing that refugees are able to pay fair market rate while folks with vouchers are limited by HUD caps.

01:14:54
Market rate isn’t affordable for ME! :)

01:15:05
We sometimes resettle large families (8-10 family members), and finding housing for families that large can be very difficult because of occupancy rules. Finding any apartments with 4+ bedrooms can be very difficult. What strategies or tips for working with landlords to find housing for large refugee families?

01:16:32
Can the top left slide on the resettlement process with the great graphics on the screen titled Session Structure Content be made available to us? It looks to be very well done!

01:17:27
We have a family of 12 coming soon...….help!

01:19:12
Do local ordinances limit # in an apt- because...many cultures sleep in large numbers in a common space

01:19:57
HUD has a number limit per bedroom for apartments. Often landlords have limits as well.

01:20:56
thank you to those who do not work for the resettlement agencies for your passion and welcome of refugees resettling in the Pittsburgh area

01:21:18
